Emergency Shelter
Our emergency shelter provides a safe, supportive environment for survivors of domestic violence and their children. While in shelter, residents work closely with our team to create personalized safety plans and take steps toward long-term stability.
Support doesn’t stop at the door. We offer a range of trauma-informed services designed to promote healing and independence, including counseling, support groups for adults and children, court and child advocacy, parenting support, risk assessments, and safety planning.
Shelter advocates are available 24/7 to offer emotional support and help residents navigate next steps—whether it’s finding housing, securing employment, or rebuilding after crisis. At The Willow Path, every survivor is met with dignity, compassion, and the resources to move forward.
Transition Shelter
Our Transitional Shelter provides survivors and their children with a safe, supportive place to live as they move beyond crisis shelter and begin rebuilding their lives. Families can remain in transitional housing for an extended period of time while working toward long-term independence. During their stay, survivors partner with our team to set personal goals, strengthen life skills, access counseling, continue case management, and connect with vital community resources. This extra time and support allows families to stabilize, grow in confidence, and prepare for independent living in a secure and sustainable way.
Counseling
At The Willow Path, we provide confidential counseling to support survivors as they process trauma, rebuild confidence, and move forward with hope. Our peer support counselors offer a safe, compassionate space for healing—whether through individual sessions, family support, or group therapy.
Court Advocacy
Navigating the legal system can feel overwhelming for survivors of domestic violence. Our Court Advocacy program provides guidance, support, and representation throughout the court process. Advocates accompany survivors to hearings, assist with filing protection orders, explain legal options in clear language, and connect survivors with legal resources. By offering both emotional support and practical assistance, our advocates help survivors feel empowered, informed, and never alone as they take critical steps to secure safety and justice.
Child & Family Advocacy
Children and families experiencing domestic violence often need specialized care and support. Our Child & Family Advocacy program provides services designed to help children process trauma, strengthen family bonds, and restore a sense of safety. Advocates work with parents to develop healthy parenting strategies after abuse, offer age-appropriate support groups for children, and provide resources that promote healing for the entire family. By focusing on both the child’s and the caregiver’s needs, this program ensures families can move forward together with resilience, stability, and hope.
Prevention & Outreach
Breaking the cycle of domestic violence begins with education and awareness. Through our Prevention Services and Outreach Programs, we work directly in schools, healthcare settings, faith communities, and civic organizations to equip people of all ages with the tools to build healthy relationships and recognize the warning signs of abuse. From classroom programs like Fluffy Finds a Safe Space for children, to teen dating violence education in middle and high schools, to trainings for foster parents and healthcare professionals, our prevention work creates ripple effects across the community.
In addition, our outreach programs connect survivors to resources outside of shelter, including case management, safety planning, and referrals. Whether through education or direct support, our goal is to ensure that every individual in Cullman County has access to knowledge, resources, and hope.
